You are going to have to wait with the rest of us, the only folks who are going to see this before 2011 are people with the Nexus One...
Once it is ready for the Droid X you will be hearing about it on the forums. I would expect it to take a month or two... but I could be wrong.Send files between your Android and your PC with Dropbox - Click here - 12-06-2010, 11:01 AM #4

Exactly it's going to be April at the earliest. And that's if it sails through VZW testing which I doubt

I think April is a good guess.
2.2 was announced back in May and my DX got it 4 months later in early Setpember. So maybe March...-Got Gingerbread?

No way any phone is getting GB in January. Feb is even pushing it. I could POSSIBLY see the Evo/Incredible and/or the Galaxy phones getting it that early simply because HTC and Samsung already have the source code. But even then that would be a miracle. The source will probably be released in a couple of weeks (mid december). It's gonna take at least a month and a half for the manufactures and then carriers to ruin Gingerbread and push it out. With that said... The only way you're getting GB in january is through Cyanogen lol. And even that's a maybe lol.

Yeah, with all the implement that carriers have nowadays, it will probably
at the very least be around March when we start seeing it. - 12-06-2010, 06:02 PM #14
Yeah don't hold your breath for GB on the DX verizon will take forever trying to integrate Philblur into to. i suggest upgrading if you can, you will get GB faster

Fission will probably be updated to 2.3 by Feb I'm thinking. Depends on speed of source code release.

Because it's an improvement over Froyo with extra features, battery life, performance...all the same reasons you wanted Froyo.

Lol. I can dream too! Some say the glass is half empty. Some say its half full. I say, "Are you going to drink that?" - 12-10-2010, 09:35 PM #20
March or April is probably a reasonable guess, I would imagine. It's a good 4 1/2 months away, and I'd say if it takes any longer than that (although I wouldn't be surprised) then I would start to raise an eyebrow of concern.

Definitely march-April , and maybe early may, depending on Motorola and big red...I don't think there will be custom roms for 2.3 on the x because it requires a modded boot.img, which x owners can't have.

Well I called and spoke with 2 separate Verizon Tech Support Reps. yesterday to confirm any accuracies in responses. I asked if and when the Droid X would be receiving the Gingerbread update? Both of them told me the same thing; that they received a memo stating it should be released by the end of January or February 2011. So we will just have to wait and see but we will definitely be getting it. Thats right!!
