Question Droid X 2.2.1 Update : Data widget on home panel?

Hello, I have a rooted stock rom Droid X 2.2 which has no issues and I'm very pleased with. I don't see anything in the 2.2.1 update that makes me want to upgrade. But I am curious about one feature mentioned in the Verizon announcement under enhancements : What is the Data Widget on home panel? What is it used for? Thanks

    Default VZW Data

I think its VZW's widget for with data usage. Im using it, but personally not crazy about it. I have to turn off wifi to use it. It's so much easier just to check at my PC. I turned off wifi an hr ago and It still says "Cannot process your request".

There is also an "upgraded" My Verizon app/icon, which I thought was the Data Usage one until I found it lurking in my apps drawer. Marginal info, unless you are on a limited data plan. In that case, it would be most useful. Apparently, this is the trend of the future ... buying time, so to speak.

Is getting a data plan less than unliited even an option for an android device? If you are on an unlimited data plan, I don't see what the need for this app and widget is.

Yes you can purchase the capped plan but soon as you go over the allotted amount it will cost another 15 dollars (keeps going in $15 increments). Someone on that plan would need a widget like that unless all they do is email/text/ and make phone calls.
