Camera no longer saves pictures?
Okay so here's my issue. I posted this in the hacks forum for the X, but no one really knew.
I am running a custom rom and I have vignette and the stock camera app.
I can take the pictures no problem, but when it goes to store them it just shows up as blank as nothing was actually saved.
It is quite annoying because there's been plenty of times I've wanted to take a picture, but can't because it won't end up saving it.
Any advice/ideas? - 12-27-2010, 10:40 AM #2
try checking various folders in the sd card, maybe the pics were relocated to a folder that the gallery is not able to display as that folder may have a .nomedia file in it

I read that you had camera issues and you now have fixed them.
Good that you have fixed them I didnt know what could have been wrong but how did you fix it by re installing it ?

are you using the full paid version?...if so, uninstall it and install the demo version and see if that works. If it does work, then see if you can install the paid version over it

Read the thread titled "re formated sd card" and see if that sounds similar to your problem I just saw that thread right below this one .

basically the idea is to connect your phone to computer, transfer ALL data to your computer as a back up. Then reformat your sdcard, Once that has been formatted, copy all data back onto your card (except for the latest photos that you were unable to view properly). Then try the Vignette app again and see how that works out for you.

I read the thread. Not really sure if it's the SD card. I mean even the stock camera app when I take a picture it saves it, but just as a blank image nothing but a black screen. It then would allow me to take another picture however same thing would happen.
Vignette only gets to storing picture screen and that's it. I need to force stop it to close it down. - 12-27-2010, 08:48 PM #18
do you have a spare micro sd card to try before formatting the current card in phone?
Try that if you have a spare laying around even if it's just an 8gb.....even better, just pull the card out completely as the DX has enough storage space internally to take a couple test shots with both camera apps.
If that test fails with same results, then you could have a problem with the camera itself - 12-28-2010, 08:38 AM

how about uninstalling the blurcamera apk and then grabbing the blurcamera apk from a official update and installing just that. Maybe something got messed up in the blurcamera apk

I use SystemApp Remover from the market....works great, separates regular apps from system apps so you can choose what you wan to uninstall from either section.
Click on System Apps and locate the BlurCamera.apk where if you click on it, it will give you options to uninstall, backup, enable or disable.
If you uninstall it, make sure you have a copy of the BlurCamera.apk from an update or even from the original stock version of 2.2
You should be able to grab it from somewhere or from someone to reinstall it. good luck - 12-28-2010, 12:51 PM

I know this sounds like a really stupid question, but are you sure your finger isn't over the camera? Don't get mad, just checking...
You mentioned that the stock camera also saves blank photos, before you take the picture does the image show up on the screen?
The DX has a physical shutter, it is possible the timing of the shutter is physically messed up and the apps capture the image while the shutter is closed, not sure if any apps have this, but you can try messing with the timing of the shutter exposure... I have an issue with the default camera app that it captires the image .5 sec after the flash on the first picture, so sometimes the software and hardware can get out of sync...
I'd say if you find that the shutter's physical timing is off, it might be best to return it as a defective unit...
