The Washing Machine and the Droid X
Took advantage of the two for one deal on the Droid X earlier this month. Set one up for me and one for my son. He came home the other night and decided to do some laundry after work. After a short while he couldn't find his phone, put two and two together and then checked the washing machine which was by then completing the cycle. So we put in rice for two days, but still some water in it. I took it apart and got the remaining water out. Cleaned up the screens and put it back together. Turned it on and the bootloader came up. Where do I start this when my PC doesn't recognize the phone on the USB connection. Can I reprogram the original system or should I just root it now? Any help appreciated. See attached picture for bootloader screen.

The fact that you can get back to the bootloader is a good sign.

Exactly what's in the thread already posted. I bricked my phone the other
day and got the bootloader. Did the SBF using RSD lite as well and got it
working fine again. - 12-27-2010, 06:53 PM #4

That bites! I guess no insurance, right? For others, this would be covered by the Asurion insurance plan, right?

I hate to see this happen, I've had insurance since my wife's friend dropped my old EnV into a cup of Gatoraid, lol.

Make sure you call VZW or go online to have the MEID on the BB added back to that number. You can't just activate with *228. Found that out the hard way when a had to get a replacement.

I tried 4.8 first, gave me a big FAIL at the end of the update. Then tried 4.9, still the same. Used 2.3.15?, 2.3.320 and 2.3.340 sbf's, still no change. Maybe the X requires a different combination to make it work. I don't know if he updated the phone to .340, I know I got the OTA the day after I got mine activated.

I am confused, which 2.3.340 SBF are everyone reporting? All sites I have seen keep talking about 2.3.15 or the leaked 2.3.20. What link are everyone using that has been verified for 2.3.340 OTA?

I would add the insurance to the account and wait about a week or so then call in for a claim. You'll pay about $50 or $60 out of pocket but at least he'll get a new phone. Tell the insurance company you dropped in the lake while ice fishing or something...

I think you need to have the phone make a call or use data AFTER you add the insurance before you can file a claim.
I think the OP's son may have to go back to the BB.
After the CES and some of the new phones are announced and released, I'm sure there will be a glut of used Android phones on Craigs List and such. He may be able to pick one up for around $200.00 give or take....
