New CES Phones
Ok, Droid X loyalists. With the influx of new phones debuting at the CES show is there any particular phone that would make you jump ship from the Droid X?

I want to wait and see how 4g works and let them work the bugs out

But bionic sounds sick! I am content and stocked on my X nothing is making me want it mainly because I don't want to pay extra for 4g when I don't get it by me

I am very happy with my X. However the "Motorola Atrix" has caught my attention. I am intrigued by the laptop docking station and the dual core processor.

phil just posted a hands-on with the bionic. smaller than the X, and its that a sharp looking agenda calendar widget in this supposedly updated blur?

edit: i am an *****. just realized the calendar widget was on phil's X. smh - 01-05-2011, 08:47 PM #15
I'm done with Moto. I'm probably going to give HTC a shot. No LG and no Sammy for me. I'm waiting for specs to be announced on the Thunderbolt. I'm hoping they moved beyond a 1GHz Snapdraggon. I'm hoping for either a higher clock speed, or dual core, but I'd settle for the GPU of the G2 coupled with a 1GHz processor.

Unfortunately, with upcoming new security protocols most likely being installed on all new devices, none of these attract me away from my X, running quite nicely right now on Tranq. 3.6. In fact, until these new devices are out for awhile, and I can see how locked down they really are, I'll use my X until duct tape won't even hold it together.

My guess is by the time LTE is rolled out beyond NFL cities we'll all be ready or well past our upgrade date.

I don't know if anyone has heard, but by mid January we won't be able to upgrade annually anyway. My choice would be between the Thunderbolt and Bionic. Each phone sounds awesome though!

As some of you know, I'm at CES with the SPE gang. The Xoom is cool but fails in 2 ways. 1) it will not launch with LTE support. Customers can upgrade the Xoom but they are required to bring it in to Verizon for a hardware upgrade. 2) the micro SD card slot is not functional until a software upgrade is released. The slot is dual purpose. It is a combo SD/GSM slot for LTE. It was a sweet looking tab, but those 2 things kill it IMHO.
The Atrix is an innovative and interesting device. My question to you guys, is would you use the functionality it offers over a laptop? The laptop dock is cool. It allows you to emulate the Atrix screen and access full versions of Firefox and Facebook, but would you pack around the dock instead of a laptop? I'm not sure I would. It's very much like the Redfly device. If you like Redfly, you'll love this.
Any questions about either of the devices, feel free to post here. - 01-06-2011, 02:25 AM #24
Of my Droid X had a front facing camera, I wouldn't be looking at any of these phones. But I really don't have a significant need to video chat to begin with. So I will be hanging on to my Droid X until something comes out that really wows me. Although it would be nice to have some better gaming.
