Help upgrading to gingerbread from ROM

Hey all I am running Liberty ROM and have a few questions. When the GB update is released on the internet, cant I just put it on my SD card and flash it without having to sbf my phone?

if not, can anyone link me to the correct sbf with instructions on how to do it?

unless you have a stock nandroid backup, youll have to sbf.

thanks much. do you know of any good programs i can use to back up my contacts before I SBF?? Maybe something that backs them up to my sd card.

Also, SBF does not touch anything on my SD card right?

Just heads up, you do know that there is no way to root the official OTA update?
