Help with getting to gingerbread.

Ok, so I got tired of waiting and attempted to install the update manually and it is just my luck it failed. After looking at the phone, I am on android version 2.2.1 system version 2.3.320.mb810.verizon.en.us. Unrooted. I'm really sorry to ask but what am I missing? I tried to read everything and figure out what I need to do, but its only confusing me more. It doesn't help that I'm on serious painkillers from surgery either. Lol. Please help me out some. Sorry.

you actually need to be on 2.3.340 for the GB update to take. its been awhile, so i cant remember off-hand exactly how to upgrade from .320 to .340, so i would search in the x forum here to find the path for that. after youre on .340, you should be good to go

Missed the 2.3.340 OTA?

You need to be on 2.3.340 first i think.

Try to find the OTA to 2.3.340 and then you can OTA to GB 4.5.596

Thanks guys! I got myself to 340 by flashing the system sbf for it. Now when I go to update to GB it just says error during the install. I got the update via ota as well as the download from droidlife of full stock version. Is there anyway to tell what the error actually is?

Used the ota update method and the stock bootloader method.

What file was this exactly? Because I am not sure, someone correct me if I am wrong, but you have to go to .588 before you can get the latest update which is .596

And if the OTA(.596?) didn't work on an un-rooted device, well I'm not sure I heard that one yet so I'll leave that part for someone else.

I said F it and used a stock gb sbf successfully. Now the fun of resetting..... Yay....
