Got A Droid!
Hey all,
after suffering with the iPhone and AT&T (UGH) for so long, finally took the plunge and went with the Droid on Verizon...wow! I'm sorry I waited so long. Love the device, it's perfectly masculine and geeky enough for my personality. Really diggin' it so far, and it's the only cell phone I know of that works in the elevators in my apartment tower. Girlfriend's Sprint Hero dies as did the iPhone when the doors shut. Thank you Verizon! Look forward to contributing and learning here. - 07-19-2010, 06:40 PM #2
Welcome to the android family! I just joined about a month ago. Did the same as you. Left at&t and the iPhone 3gs. And haven't missed it once.

Well congrats on your upgrade! I made the switch from bb tour around the first of the year and can't see myself using anything other than android from now on. Once you think you might be getting bored just try rooting

I just purchased a Droid as well. Making the jump from a Storm 1. I can't wait to start using it!

Which one should I get, Droid X, Droid 2, LG Ally or Original Droid ? I have a NE2 upgrade, but the Droid X costs a little too much lol.

Re: Got A Droid!
Just switched from Storm 1. I was in denial about how a real touch screen should operate.

I would recommend the Original Droid *unless*....
The original Droid is plenty fine (especially if switching from any RIM device, including the S2) unless you absatively posilutely need the larger screen of the DroidX (the Droid 2 has the same size screen as the original Droid, which is larger than that of the S2).
One other advantage the Droid has over the S2 (and leave SurePress out of it, as I had no trouble with it) - color! The Droid has a 24-bit display, compared to the *mere* 65,536 colors of the S2 and original Storm. The one thing I'll be using my Droid for is what I use my S2 for right now - multimedia playback; the extra color depth makes playing back video on the Droid a dream, even compared to the S2.
I have nothing against RIM (or even BlackBerry devices in general; remember, I have the S2); however, I just had a cousin visit (with her Droid); the extra color and larger screen left me truly boggled and goggled. When it comes time for renewal, I'll be going with a CLN Droid. - 07-24-2010, 02:10 AM
