Cut, copy, and paste screen??

So earlier today I threw my Droid in my lap while driving with Google Talk open. When I picked it back up the virtual keyboard was gone and there was a cut, copy, paste "keyboard" that had up, down, left, right arrows and buttons for cut, copy, text, and a few other buttons. I have never seen this before and can not replicate it. I'm running Froyo with a swype keyboard. Anyone know how I can get back to that option?
