I had Verizon ship me a new Droid because my power button broke. I joked with the associate in the store that they should send me a Droid2, but she said they couldn't.

Today fedex showed up on my doorstep with a Droid2 in-hand. Looks like VZW loves me afterall.

I will, it was a phenomenal device!

Yeah, that was awesome of VZW.

I got a little letter with the box that reads: (and I am paraphrasing)

"Sorry for having to wait for your Droid 1 (actually says Droid 1)

Due to a shortage in supply of the Droid 1 replacement devices, we have upgraded you to a brand new Droid 2.

Please accept our apologies."

Hahah, they apologized for giving me a BRAND NEW (not refurb) D2 for free

basically, if my phone had died a week later, I'd be upgrading to a D2?? That's kinda awesome.

I wouldn't consider .04oz as far heavier.

One of the reasons I like Verizons customer service. You would never have that with the other phone carriers.

Just got off the phone with VZW, they're sending me a refurb Droid1 to replace my damaged device. Hoping I get a D2 instead!

BTW, I've had a few problems and they offered to sell me a refurb devour instead of sending me a refurb D1 for free - what a joke!

Same thing happened to me. My wife's D1 became unusable on speaker phone because of a feedback loop. I called Saturday night, and a new D2 showed up this morning.

hmm we will see i have another one comming due to not being able to flash the official update to get the new baseband. so im having real bad wifi issues. dont know what im getting all i know is i called on sun and device still hasnt shipped oh well guess i can pull out the laptop when im at home. kinda sucks i received my phone with the incorrect baseband

I am almost certain you'll get a D2.

I just ordered a replacement yesterday and got the email last night that it shipped but with my luck I will get a D1, I would be happy if a D2 does show up but I usually have to fight tooth and nail to get anything. After I went through MANY BB storms, I had to fight to get them to let me upgrade early and that was paying for the phone at the 2 year price after only a year, they did offer me a storm2 at first but I had to renew my contract......garbage

Wow that's awesome, you did get lucky! Now I wish something would break on my Droid 1~! I would mind having the Droid 2 to hold me until next summer when I can upgrade.
