What are some ways that I can speed up my droid? The home screen sometimes takes several seconds to load and a lot of the time applications take a while to load.

What can I do speed up the system?

root your phone with an app called Easy Root and then download an app called SetCPU. With the new Froyo 2.2 update you can speed it up to 800MHz. that is 145% faster. and it doesnt require all that much work.

Otherwise check out "Quick App Clean Cache" in the Market. It's a system wide cache cleaner that works on rooted or NON-rooted phones (the main difference being you still have to clean them one at a time, as opposed to one-click if you're rooted). It will find things you may never have looked for, and display the results based on size, that's cache AND data. Not bad for $0.78 - that's a cup of coffee...
