Live Wallpaper is
I noticed a site that spoke about Live Wallpaper.
I have searched the Market Place and h ave not been able to find an app or anything in respect to this.
Can anyone shed any light on what it is where I can get it?
Thanks - 12-23-2009, 09:12 AM #2
Live Wallpapers are a part of the 2.1 Android OS, and as far as I know are not possible with anything below 2.1 (2.0.1, 2.0, etc).

I have to say these live wallpapers are slick I hope more come out soon.

yea, i am however hoping they clean up the code and minimize the battery use a little more, a 3% drain (for a day) is kind of high...

Just noticed the battery drain after a couple of hours it went down 10% which was a little higher then normal.

performance/battery can always be improved, but it's not too bad. While it's clearly just some sweet visuals, they are indeed SWEET. I'm running the smoke wallpaper, black and gray color scheme, looks amazing, almost like clouds rolling through the night sky. And my main home screen has the older style beautiful widgets clock which looks really cool against this color scheme. I dig.

i agree that it's not terrible, but there's always room for improvement!

the live wallpapers are what finally got me to make the leap.
mostly glad i did, you will definitely trade some stability for coolness though (with 2.1 in general), but i felt it was worth it. - 12-23-2009, 09:47 PM #12

its not that hard to do the update just takes a little time. If you follow the directions you shouldn't have any problem and I'll watch the forums if you need help.

Live wallpapers look great. any word on if they cause any slowdown? I just feel like these would cause lag like crazy.
- 12-23-2009, 11:14 PM #16
no slowdown, just a little higher battery usage than i would really like. but that's what optimization is for right?

Don't give in to the dark side....To many bugs, but it is tempting for sure.

- 12-24-2009, 09:38 AM #22
Where did you find instructions on changing the boot?
- 12-24-2009, 11:39 AM #23
it's on alldroid too
the nexus one boot animation is in that thread, and it's the one i'm using, but there was an issue when the person who compiled it so there is a hiccup in the animation, i haven't bothered to fix it and i haven't checked back to see if they did.
if you have the droid tools from the rom loading, all you have to do is copy the bootanimation.zip to the tools/bootwhatever folder on the sd card, run the app and click change boot animation.
pretty easy!

Ok I have the new bootanimation in the tools folder where it should go but how do I run the app to click change boot animation? Not sure what app I'm suppose to run and from where.
Thanks for the help - 12-24-2009, 01:21 PM #25
run the droid root helper app
in it there is a button to change the boot animation, click that and then reboot, you should now see whatever animation zip you put in the tools boot animation folder
