Does anybody have any ideas on getting data to the ext sd card aside from manualy moving files? I love the speed of this phone and if I could send the recordings I have to do with tapemachine to the ext sd this phone would be perfect.

Theres an app for that! im not to sure what its called.. but just seach sd card and u will find a thing that lets u switch things quickly and easily from phone to card

Go to settings, storage & all the way at the bottom there an option that states "use internal our external sd for straight" just click external. Hope that helps, of like three fact that I use internal sf as storage since I think it's a faster i.o. Than even my class 4 sd micro sd.
