Froyo ETA Set

The delays and lack of information were just as bad with the Incredible, and remember it (the Incredible) was on store shelves long before the Droid X. And the EVO Froyo roll-out was rushed and full of bugs. I'm still recovering from the gigantic issues sticky from that roll-out. If the X isn't being pushed out, then they are likely still working to make it better, which is in everyone's best interest.

If they aren't planning to push it out before Wednesday then they should just say so. There is no point in pretending they are still on track for a "late summer" release when they aren't. The delay is understandable if they are working on issues, the lack of communication isn't really understandable or excusable. And the blatant implication by Moto that they are on schedule if they aren't is really not understandable.

Is it REALLY Moto, or is it VZW and their stringent OS release team. When I was on BB, VZW was always last on updating the Storm2 software when all other carriers were dropping BB updates all over the place like.

I got sick of waiting and installed the leaked froyo...works just fine..except some market issues...enjoying full flash.

Installing FlyX rom now and see how that works...screw vz and moto.

if all they wanted was 2.2 why wouldnt they have waited less than a month and purchase the droid 2, which everyone knew was coming with 2.2?

thats ridiculous.

I believe it was the only other option in the beginning when a lot of people voted. The option for "It's important but life goes on" was added later. So maybe half of those would have voted differently?

Its "the end of the summer??"

I've been running 2.2's since the first leaked Froyo. Didn't know a thing about Android, rooting, deodex or custom ROMs until I got my Droid X. Just for Flash alone it was worth it and I've gotten so much support from forums and other Android sites that Im not the least bit concerned about not being able to update the official version. I'll take forum support over Verizon and Motorla tech support .......ANYDAY!

Lets just start up the rumors for 3.0 and see which one drops first...

Go out to YouTube and search for Voice Actions (there are a couple official Google release videos). They are only available for Froyo. IMO, they can be a tremendous reason for an upgrade. Then add noticeably better performance and nominally better battery life and you have a trifecta.

Personally, I have been staying away from the forums as it is just TOO frustrating all this waiting. If I don't come by too often I can forget between visits and it isn't as bad. Well, at least I'm not THINKING about not having it all the time.

I haven't rooted yet and won't until after Froyo drops. I don't mind the warranty issue, but I just don't want to deal with any hassles with the upgrade.

Hmmm, I wonder if VZW is the reason for the delay? Not the obvious reason (their notorious "perfectionism"), but rather that they want to keep us from being able to root the phone... It wouldn't surprise me based on my experience with Blackberries. And you couldn't PAY enough to go back!

Must be messing with you... I'm still getting the same thing I've gotten for the last 4+ weeks, "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later."

I just hope the actual update doesn't overwhelm the update servers like people CHECKING for the update appears to be...

until 9/23, and then there will be another rumor saying it is 10/1, and so on, and so on. it would be appreciated if moto wouldnt even announce ETA's, just say "it will be released when it is ready"

Man.... I tell ya, I have the worst luck when it comes to picking the right phone. Dont get me wrong.... the DX works great running 2.1, way better than my former Blackberry's. But, I would like it if the ringer was louder ( a fix promised with Froyo) and that my home screen could rotate from to landscape (another fix promised with Froyo) and that I could pinch to see all 7 home screens instead of flipping through them..(fix promised by Froyo) and that I could have flash...... ( another fix promised by Froyo).

If I didnt read these forums, I would be dumb and happy running 2.1....clueless that an update was overdue.

agree. a lot of those feature desires are in LPP and adw, 2 excellent launcher replacement apps. highly recommend checking them out. im with you on the ringer volume though
