Ok so I have a droid X that I rooted through easy root. My question is, (first of many) is this a real root? Can I do everything a rooted phone can do? Will i be able to install the leaked 2.2 update with my phone if it has been rooted in this way or are there different kinds of roots? Sorry if these questions seem noobish, but I am not used to hacking on an android (the droid X seems especially tricky) and I am just trying to learn.
If this is a true blue root, will things like rom manager and Koush's bootstrap work for customs roms? If so how does that work?
Should I hold off on getting 2.2 until we see what birdman is cooking up? Do i need to unroot my phone before I install the real update tomorrow?
Once again sorry for all the questions, but the droid X is an odd phone when it comes to rooting as far as I can tell, and I am just trying to get the most out of it.
