Cases/Covers
What type of case or cover do you prefer to use on your Xoom?

I got the standard Verizon one at launch. Its good and does what's needed but I don't even put my Xoom in it anymore unless I go out. Wish I got a easy zipper case or something like that.

Re: Cases/Covers
I used that one for a while. But, I didn't like how the clip things on the side sort of scratch the Xoom itself. I bought the otterbox case for it. But, that adds on a lot of weight and thickness to the device itself. But, when I'm traveling, I do like have a bit of protection for the device itself. I'm just not sure if I want to do the otterbox thing anymore.
So I'm sort of interested in what others have chosen to do with theirs. - 10-13-2011, 07:25 PM #4
Re: Cases/Covers
I had the portfolio case but got sick of unlatching it to put it in the charging dock (how did that flaw slip by quality control). I now have it in the moto gel case. I wouldn't call that an exact fit either. Corners will slip a little and real loose around the ports at the bottom. When I transport my xoom, I have a soft zipper case. If anyone knows of a portfolio type case that allows you to charge it with removing it from the case, please share.

I hated the clips not so much the little scratches but just getting it to pop out cause I hated using it in the case. I did use a small metal tool and cut out the area on the charge port. It worked but I rarely have it in the case now so not needed.

Re: Cases/Covers
I have tried three cases and the first two sucked (original folio case. another leather one) but settled on this one and it is PERFECT. Looks sharp and the function is outstanding.

I bought the Otterbox case when it came out. It was expensive but worth it in my opinion. I cut off the flap at the bottom that covers the charging / HDMI & USB ports. I didn't like opening and closing it all the time with the cover and all.

Re: Cases/Covers
This is the one I like; when the tongue on the closing flap wore out, I bought another one 'cause I liked this one so much.
It gives a little angle when you close it from behind for reading, and you can charge it with the case on; you'd think this is some sort of rocket-science considering few cases seem to get this right.Sprint EVO HW Rev 0002 Build 3.70.651.1

I got a real leather case stand from skin digital for $18.00 & free shipping. Very nice, well made. Better than I had hoped for.

Re: Cases/Covers
Anyone know of a case with a belt clip? Or does anyone have any suggestions how to carry the Xoom and have both hands free?

Re: Cases/Covers
Otterbox has a "latch" made for the iPad but works on the Xoom. It gives you a weather cover/ shoulder strap, and a elastic strap for if/when you want to use it in a car or such

Re: Cases/Covers
I had a folio case, but never liked opening and closing the flap. It also left lines across the screen from where the inside of the flap rubbed against the glass. Nothing permanent, but annoying. I switched to the Otterbox case and got the utility latch as well. I love it. The otterbox adds some bulk, but it also makes it very easy to hang on to the Xoom while using it. I use the utility latch in the car. It is strapped on the headrest so my kids can watch movies while we are driving. It pops in and out very easily, and feels very secure.

Re: Cases/Covers
I have a Motorola case, I don't know if there are different Motorola cases, this is black plastic with cushy pads inside and three Xoom slips in. It seems lite weight to me. It does a good job of protection and you can fold it back out use two groves for two different angles if on a flat surface. I modified by cutting out the spine or hinge to expose the hole where the charge pin plugs in so that the case can be closed and still charge it. Otherwise you needt to leave the case open. I found a round tube in my garage and used it as a hole punch, set the car flat on a metal vise then after locating and making spot, used a hammer to punch a clean round hole. Can't understand why the case doesn't come that way? Anyone else done this, if you need help I can post pics some where.

Re: Cases/Covers
I use the Fortte side slider case made for genuine leather. its thin sleek and give me the actual feel of my tablet. I got tired of the portfolio case that just adds bulk and weight to the device. I am also using skinomi screen protector and wood skin.

Re: Cases/Covers
Just ordered a Otterbox Defender for mine off Ebay a few days ago. I've progressively gotten to use to just tossing it on my bed or couch. It actually bounced off and hit the floor the other day so I'm just going to protect the heck out of it. And I really like the angle the stand/screen protector gives. Got it for $46 shipped so I'm pretty happy.

Re: Cases/Covers
I just bought the Zoogue case. Love it! It's real leather, perfect fit and all ports open and it can charge without having to remove it. Very, very nice.
