Is anyone planning on switching to the new ipad?

Are you going to switch to the new ipad?

I haven't had any problems with mine. The heat generated by the thing isn't any greater, than what I've experienced with my Xoom.

I will say this about the new ipad. It is able to maintain its 4G LTE connection a lot better than my Xoom has since its upgrade.

The display is amazing as well, the battery life is incredible as well, especially given the device is a 4G LTE device.

Nope who needs an overheated "tablet" that doesn't hold charge properly. According to BGR.Com

Got one for the wife to replace the OG iPad she had before, which got handed down to our daughter. It definitely has an awesome screen, but it also definitely gets noticeably hotter than the old one.

Now, there are apparently a number of owners of the new iPads who are complaining about poor WiFi connectivity and rather limited range for WiFi.

Have you noticed this as well? A quick test you might try would be to try the OG and the new one side-by-side (as it seems some of those complaining have done), and see if they have comparable signal strength as you move further away from your wireless router.

I haven't noticed any problems with wifi on it. It seems to do better than my original iPad. It also switches between wifi and LTE better than the Xoom. A lot of times on the Xoom I would have to turn wifi off in order to get the device to switch.

Just out of curiosity...
Why would one want to switch from WiFi to LTE when WiFi is still available? I would imagine a remembered WiFi link would be the default connection and, of course you'd have to turn off WiFi to force a connection to LTE.

And one observation...
I can understand you lingering around talking XOOM, because you still have a XOOM, but that's not what you're doing. Do you realize how you sound? It would be like me going over to an iPad forum talking up Android. It's just... well... I think the vast majority here wouldn't do it.

There are times when it is necessary. The wifi network not performing well, or maybe it is one you have used before, but are choosing not to use at a specific time because of the cost to use it.

I am a Xoom and have been since its initial release. I'm sorry you dislike seeing comparisons of similar products.

Not all people have your personality. Different strokes for different folks.

Yeah, XOOM owner since the first day for me. Lived through the release rumors and Motorola debacle of a marketing campaign. Lived through the HC issues that forced us to carefully monitor each app or pay the consequence of a sluggish system.

The difference is I read the writing on the wall and am running an ICS ROM instead of waiting for Mot/Verizon. The tablet is awesome.

Dude... reread your posts. You're not making comparisons of similar products. Name these "similar products" you speak of. Look at the title of this thread!

You're upset with Motorola and unhappy with your XOOM. Even though most (if not all) the problems with HC have been addressed, you're whining that you don't have an official release of ICS yet. Serious?!

When people hate something or somebody it's so easy to amplify the faults... even see some that aren't even there. Your claim of inferior 4G connectivity - LOL!! I travel all around the country and have incredibly reliable connectivity. So do my family... oh, I forgot to say I bought three XOOMs on the very first day.

The cost of these things is not an issue for me. If there were something better, I'd be there. iPad is DEFINITELY not it. It's almost useless to a grown adult trying to use it for business. I'm looking with eagerness at the Win8 efforts. If I could have a tablet running full blown Windows... ;-) Oh yeah! If you want to really make comparisons, how about discussing that? Look forward to something with fewer limitations that will actually help us make money, not backward at something with oppressive limitations and is next to useless.

Back to my point with you... Look, if you're gonna do it, man up and own it. Don't try to sell it as some sort of altruistic comparison effort.

We will have to agree to disagree. Thank you for your opinion.
