I'm looking at used Xoom's and want to know if Android 4.1.2 is the latest OS without having to root?? If so, is it an over the air update?

If you are looking at the Wifi version, it has been updated to JellyBean, but I am not sure I can say which version it is (whether 4.1; 4.11 or 4.1.2).

If you are looking at a 3G / 4G / Wifi version, it is still on ICS and there is only indication that it will be upgraded to JB sometime in first half of 2013.

It also has been stated that both models will not receive any future updates past JB though (including 4.2), so they have almost reached the end of life for update purposes. With that said, I have the 4G model, and love it, with no thoughts of upgrading in the near future as it still does everything I need it too, without problems.

I have to agree - I'm using a stock LTE Xoom since march of 2011, and it still runs great!

4.1.2 on my stock Wifi Xoom, received over the air.
