Default Verizon wireless $600.00 w 2yr data plan

I know it's more then just buying it for $800.00 but over a 2year period it may
    be a good option?

For people who are getting a data plan anyway and plan to keep the plan long term this might be a good option. My only concern would be is being stuck with the same tablet for 2 years. Or at least if you do get a new tablet you will be paying full price for your next one.

For all the people who were saying that Verizon would not have a contract price for the tablets and they were sure you were obviously flat out wrong. I got a lot of heat for mentioning that people who were saying they knew for sure were incorrect. I mentioned that Verizon could change what they had done in the past for the Xoom, but I was ridiculed for that.

So be careful of all these people here who proclaim to know everything. Use your own common sense when it comes to these things. My common sense tells me to wait on the Xoom, but if I was buying one know I would buy from Costco and not on contract.

They really should have included a $699.99 with 1 year contract option. I honestly would have considered that one, but there's no way I'm locking into a 2 year agreement.

with the minimum 20 bucks a month, it turns out to be 840 before taxes and fees. Anyone know how much the taxes and fees are? Have we seen data rates for LTE?

I think you meant $480, but I don't know how much the taxes and fees on data-only would be.

As for the LTE data rates, we haven't seen those yet, except for USB modems. Those prices actually decreased by $10 per month compared to the comparable 3G plans for USB modems. Who knows, but obviously we should find out pretty soon.

Does anyone know if corporate discounts with VZW apply to monthly data plans?

I have a 20% corporate discount on a VZW family plan with 5 lines. The 20% discount only applies to the primary line, so I save on the Talk & Text family shared minutes plus 20% off the $30 unlimited data for my OG Droid.

Will I receive a 20% discount on the tablet data plan? It would be nice to get 3GB for $28 per month.

Does this mean you still will need 1 month of data for an off contract Xoom?

Based on information from BB and VZW, yes. But there have been people saying that you don't.

However, from what I understand, if you cancel your data plan within 3 days of getting your Xoom, you will get your activation fee as well as the prorated amount for your data service back.

On all 3 if my lines the data is discounted so it should be the same thing. Only thing not discounted on my lines is the 10 bucks to add each line. My friend has the galaxy tab and same discount. Pays 16 bucks a month for the 1gb plan.

As fast as technology is changing in this field a 2 year contract scares me. I wonder when support will stop for the device. Updates? I mean phones don't even get a year's worth of updates anymore....

I will still get it at full price. A two-year contract scares me also. I'm already in contracts with T-mobile & Clear.

if I get too many more contracts going my wireless bill is gonna be more than my house payment.
I miss my friend Matt McQuinn he touched so many lives, and in the end gave his life to protect someone that he loved. I am proud to have known him, and of the choices he made when it mattered. You were a true hero.

That's what you have for me, a "dis" on my thank rating. lol.

All I have read from you over the past few days in negativity.

"waaaa, the xoom doesnt have... (insert your numerous complaints here)"

Look, we all get it. You are displeased with it. Get over it. Move along, wait for something else. Your negativity isn't welcomed here.

I am not really into insulting people who disagree with me, so yeah the thanks issue is all I have for you on the insult front, not really the way I handle conflict.

I am sorry you dislike me pointing out what problems there are with the Xoom, but I have also pointed out things that I think have been good, when we belived them to be good.

Just go buy your tablet, have a good time and stop worry about what some guy like me says about it on a message board.

One thing I'm hoping for is that having a data plan with a 2 year contract NOW, will let me keep the same price for the data contract when LTE is available. I know, I know... But I can hope can't I?

That would be nice but I am certain that LTE will be a huge rip off. I mean look at the data prices now.

Me, I'm really glad they have a subsidized option. I get a 20% discount on Verizon service so I was thinking of adding on the data plan anyways.

With the discount I’ll be paying 16 bucks a month for service plus get the 200 off. With that discount over the 2 years I’ll be paying a total of $983, which is only 184 over the original 799. That averages under $8 bucks a month for the data plan. So it’s definitely worth it for me.
