Do certain apps only work on one speaker and not both? I ask because Im playing with a model that I might purchase from my store and I was on the CNN app and only one fo the speakers seemed to work.

Any one have any thing similar happen?

I agree, I noticed only the CNN app using left audio. I think the guys in charge of audio for the CNN app anticipated the use of only one speaker. Or perhaps the same video/audio file are used on all mobile platforms which are majority one speaker.

Both speakers work when I play mp3 music or AVI videos.

Probably not. Like others have said, it's not the XOOM hardware's fault. It's the fault of the app. Instead of driving mono, they drove one sided stereo. The app needs to be rewritten.
