Screen Timeout Reset on Xoom

When I trun on my Xoom, the Screen Timeout has been reset to 30 seconds. I can go to Settings -> Screen -> Timeout and reset it to 30 minutes, but when I turn it off, it resets. Any trick to keep it at a different setting than the default?

No response in several weeks... no ideas? I still cannot find an answer on third or other forums.

Sorry, that doesn't happen on mine. I set my screen time out to 5 minutes and it has always stayed that way.
