Talking Scoff at the XOOM dedicated charger...

Scoff at the dedicated charger for the XOOM all you like... (it IS inconvenient to have to carry a unit other than my micro-USB charger for everything else, after all) BUT, I'll say this: That thing will flat out CHARGE the heck out of the XOOM!

I am getting a charge rate of about 1 percent a minute, which gets me a full charge from flat in about an hour-forty. I know, I know... percent-charge-per-minute is a "seat of the pants" sort of measurement, and doesn't necessarily convert to ANY real specific measurement of charge, like "kilosponges per hectare" or whatnot.

What this means is that if I find myself on an average layover, with about 30-40 minutes to spare, I can put on enough charge to pretty much guarantee 10.1 inches of Angry Birds goodness or ripped-DVD joy for virtually every domestic flight. (Excepting some coast-to-coast flights and Hawaii, of course ;-)

I am sure this has been said before, but the reason Moto opted to not charge via USB is because computers just don't pass enough current through USB ports to charge that battery within any acceptable timeframe. No one expects to be able to use their USB ports to recharge a second laptop's battery.

, dude. Between the fast charging and the long battery life, it's not as big an issue as I'd first thought.

FWIW, I did get the car-charger when it was on sale for $15 and this AC-to-12V charger as a portable solution for when traveling, too. Gives you multiple options (car and home) for less than the MSRP of both chargers.
