    Default 3.1 Changes

What changes are people noticing with 3.1?

I just got it this morning and so far all I can see that's different is the resizeable Widgets (only tried gmail widget thus far) and the additional stuff they added to the browser quick controls.

    What else are people noticing?

I don't see a lot of changes. Maybe a little faster overall. Can't get the BT mouse to work.

There are many changes.....USB host...the video app....the widget sizing...the only thing I need is a cable kit for the USB host....(any suggestions)?

The keyboard now makes a "clickity-clack" sound as you type. The wi-fi signal icon now shows little arrows for uploading and downloading data. Has there always been a "labs" option in the settings? I'm still a little disappointed that there seems to be no way to set the browser to "desktop" without using "about:debug".

I don't have the video app on my wifi xoom. I also don't have the movies section in my market. I have 3.1 and don't see these. Everything else works fine though. Any other wifi xoom owners seeing the same thing?

There's also supposedly a "performance" setting for the wifi when the unit is awake.

Multitasking shows all open apps and is scrollable.

It is a microUSB OTG cable. You can get them on ebay for about 3 bucks.

Could be a coincidence, but I have a much more stable wifi connection in my home now. My Xoom used to drop the connection a lot, but since getting the update it hasn't dropped once.

Ditto here too. I seem to remember reading the were fixes for the wifi stability in 3.1.

If you set a wallpaper from the gallery it shows what portion of the picture will be visible in portrait and landscape. Thought that was pretty cool.

Guys so with USB hosting will a portable external HDD work? I thought that the micro USB on the xoom was unpowered meaning that it would only read data but would not power an USB device???

Movie rentals through the Marketplace and playback using the native video player is limited to the Verizon 3G Xoom only. Support for the Wi-Fi Xoom is coming "soon".

Scrollable list of recent apps. Loving that feature.

It supplies enough power for a USB key, not a USB drive. You'll still need to root to support the USB MSD class driver. The hosting functions they enabled in 3.1 only support I/O devices.

Yeah I didn't see that either, so I had no idea what you guys were talking about. I just love how they leave us wi-fi only customers out in the cold. Why is it so hard for them to put that into both versions? Really.
