Tablet as a business device
Good morning everyone...I wanted to throw this out to all your developer types and see if anyone has any experience with this. As part of my job, we log into various pieces of equipment using a browser interface and either a USB cable and/or a Cat-5 patch cable in order to configure them. I was wondering...is it even possible to do this with a Zoom or another Android tablet? I know a customer cable configuration would have to be made up, which isn't a problem for us to do, but on our laptops, we have to change the IP settings to the same domain as the equipment we're working with (192.168.1.x or 10.0.0.x, etc). Is that possible with a Zoom or another tablet? I'm looking for a way to do these configurations with tablets instead of having to outfit all of my technicians with laptops. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

As far as I know you cannot connect the Xoom to a cat 5 cable. USB can be done with an OTC USB cable.

Maybe not, but we may be able to work up an adapter when needed, but most of the equipment we use now uses USB interfaces...my bigger question is, is it even possible to do log into equipment with the browser in Android since IP settings need to be changed? I was hoping somebody knew of, or could work up an app that could do it. I'm willing to pay
