How to do a hard reset

My sister in law just bought a mytouch slide. I had a Hero and just got the Evo so I'm happy to see her go from BB to Android... She bought the phone from a friend though. When she tries to go to the market it asks for the password of the gmail account of the previous user. What does she do? I'm guessing a hard reset and just start the initial set up all over again and just have her create a gmail account? Or is there another way to get her set up without doing a hard reset??

Try going to Settings > Accounts & Sync > under the "Manage Accounts" section click Google > Click "Remove Account" at bottom

there is the factory reset you can do from the settings menu.
