Right now the rumors sound like:

Sailfish
5" 1080p AMOLED Display
Snapdragon 820 with 4GB RAM
32GB Storage
12 MP camera (8 on the front)
Rear FPS
USB - C
2770 mAh battery

Marlin
5.5" 1440p AMOLED Display
Snapdragon 820 with 4GB RAM
32 or 128 GB Storage
12 MP camera (8 on the front)
Rear FPS
USB - C
3450 mAh battery

Assuming build materials and quality are the same, the real differences are screen, size, battery and whether or not there's a 128GB option. With what we know so far, are you leaning Sailfish or with the larger Marlin?

Depends on price, but I'd prefer the smaller one.

I'm disappointed with the size of these since last year's Nexus 6 was much larger ugh !?

I was waiting on specs for these and was going to decide between Nexus and the Note 7. I've always felt bigger was better ...... but oh well !!??

To me 5.5" and 5.7" are very close. It's .2" diagonal difference, which amounts to being .17" taller (4.4 mm) and .10" wider (2.5 mm) and has an area of .96in[SUP]2[/SUP] more, or 7% larger. While I like that 7% additional screen space, I don't think it's going to be too drastic and that the real difference in device size will come from bezel control.

Exactly! Google makes two freakin phones and the bigger version is only 5.5 lmao. I have a Nexus 6 and there's no way I'm going to a screen that small. I would have accepted 5.7 at least! But 5.5 is a joke. Keeping my N6 awhile longer. So disappointed.

After my N6 I wouldn't mind something smaller. I would like to go for the 5inch one, but I'm afraid battery life will be poor.

Depends on price. If the Marlin is within $60 of Sailfish, then will go with the larger screen. Either way, I'm going to wait a few months until someone runs a special. Getting a bit tired of paying the early adopter price.

I'm leaning towards Marlin but not really sure. I have the 6P and 5X and use them both every day, so I'd have to think about which one was being replaced.

I think either way, it's a winner. It's going to come down to either screen or battery size that will make the decision for the user.

Battery is huge with me so I will be getting the Marlin. Would love the smaller phone but 5.5" isn't TOO bad.

Yeah. Not a fan of big phones.. but if the 5.5" phone isnt huge, I might get my first "phablet"

Re: Nexus 2016 - Sailfish or Marlin?

I've bounced between several phones this year, most recently 6p and 5x... It's really really love the 5x size, especially for times like now when I'm holding a 3 day old baby and typing. I never miss the big screen (just the bigger specs).

If depends on price, but I would almost certainly pick up the 5" if *all else* was really equal. If there's camera differences I'd go with the better camera.

I really want the Marlin! I find that the 5.5" is a really good fit for me. If I loved the Sailfish though, I'd probably consider it; but to be honest, the screen size and better battery have me hoping for the Marlin.

I'm really looking forward to both of these devices coming out!

But there is a real difference. I have a note 5 and lg g3. I can easily use the G3 one handed, but it's definitely tougher with the Note 5. I also had a Nexus 6 which made the Note 5 seem small in comparison even thought it was 5.9 vs 5.7 inches. That's why 5.5 is the sweet spot IMO
