does unlocking bootloader wipe sim?

I'm ready to root my nexus 4 and I know that first I must unlock the boot loader. Now I know that unlocking the boot loader wipes the phone completely but will it wipe my son card too which has my phone number and stuff like that? Should I leave it during the process of unlocking and rooting or take it out and put it back in when I'm done? Will I encounter any problems when I put it back in once I'm done? Thanks in advance.

It will not affect your sim card at all. You can leave it in the phone.
