    Default [ROOTING] Nexus 5

It looks to me that the rooting process for the nexus 5 is very difficult and complicated.

Is there any apps I can download to root my phone there and then?

    Hello,

Rooting the Nexus 5 is no different than unlocking and rooting any other Nexus. After owning a few Nexus and non Nexus devices its obvious the Nexus line has one of the most friendliest and easiest methods to obtain root.

You can find toolkits available that will help you root the device. However as I recommend to most its best to learn how to do it manually because the time will eventually come that you want or need to revert things or troubleshoot a problem and sometimes that is where the toolkits fail to help.

Below is probably the most known and popular toolkit.

    Good luck!

What guide do you recommend for manual root? I don't see any guides stickied in this forum.

Chainfire has an easy to follow root app method that you can follow:

It requires a few commands and will do its thing. Just make sure adb is properly installed and the files are located in the proper directory to be pushed to the phone.

Thanks. I went over to XDA and decided to do it manually. I was very surprised how easy it was.

    Here you go:

The above thread provides information on unlocking the bootloader, installing a custom recovery and rooting. The information is pretty straight forward and assumes you have the sdk installed and working. The link I posted for the Chainfire method is an auto-root method which involves two commands once you have the package downloaded to the platform-tools folder of the sdk. Both references are good resources if you plan to root the device.

Wow, thank you. When I get courage and a computer and maybe a Nexus 6 I just might try this out.
