battery draining on nexus 6 p- gmail?

Hello,
Recently my battery begin dying very quickly. Light use during the day would have my battery depleted by the end of the work day. Do you have any ideas on settings that may need to be changed? I have cleared the phones cache but have not had any luck.

I am also having the same issue, i usually have between 30%-40% left at the end of a 12 hour work day, but since yesterday i have run out before the end of the day. Gmail also seems to be the issue for me.

A co-worker just mentioned the same thing... Gmail was draining his wife's 6P... hmmm....

Maybe there's something going on with the recent version.

I haven't had a battery drain because of Gmail but I can never get the Exchange to sync property and open attachments. It just hangs there until I close it.

There's a new version out there... v6.5 that dropped Monday. Are you on the 6.4 build from April?

Not seeing an issue on my S7 Edge. Screenshot below of the version I am on so you can compare.

Re: battery draining on nexus 6 p- gmail?

I've determined that it is my exchange specifically that is draining the battery, and i have enabled the calendar, contacts, and mail to sync but no luck.

Not much help here - I don't use an Exchange service and I haven't seen that issue.

Still running the 6.4.xxx release of Gmail.

There is a 6.5 out there... dropped Tuesday. But Google does slow rollouts of their updates, so you might not see it. You could go on APK Mirror and install the APK manually though.

I had the same thing with my exchange account.
What i found under my accounts, was that my exchange was just constantly synching. Like it was stuck synching and draining the battery twice as fast as normal. I tried lots of things.
The only thing that worked was to change from push notification to a time interval. After about an hour I changed back to push and haven't had a problem since.

I'm on 6.5 and I'm having the same issue. Also I don't have an exchange stuff set up so I don't know what else it could be. My phone doesn't indicate that's it's Gmail killing the battery though.

I too have had the same problem. I will set my Exchange to time interval synch and then go back to push in a few hours and see if that helps. Just did a cache clear in recovery so hopefully that helps. Same issue on my Nexus 9 too.

Has anyone figured this out yet? It is like since late last week my battery has been getting hammered and can't figure out why.

This started for me after the May update using Maildroid syncing three personal accounts. Maildroid suddenly became #1 app battery usage, even with settings to let device sleep. Cleared system cache and no change in problem. Uninstalled Maildroid and started using Gmail app. Still draining, with Gmail now showing as #1 in app battery usage.

No problems with Maildroid on my 2013 Nexus 7 with the May update.

So I tried an experiment and changed from push notifications to 30 min intervals in GMail and drain stopping. This is related to a bad Exchange Active Sync update Google pushed out in the last week. Hope they fix this week.

Re: battery draining on nexus 6 p- gmail?

Any ideas of what is keeping my phone awake? I'm sick of this terrible battery life. I have location turned off and Google now off. I've also deleted about 12 apps.
