Downloaded Nougat Update, Installed, Phone Still On Marshmallow

Nexus 6P, got the OTA update for Nougat (it specifically said this is the Nougat update) hit update, phone restarted, optimized apps. Phone on, check settings, about phone, still on 6.0.1. What gives?

Had the same issue (downloaded Nougat after downloading and installing September security patch), hit "install" but no update. That was about a week ago. Just today I got the same Nougat update notification. Downloaded update (same size as the last time), hit install, and this time it went through with no problems. On Verizon, fwiw.
