    I take photos with the stock camera app on Nexus 6p.

    It seems to save photos to Google photos rather than the hard drive ( got the solid explorer app and can't seem to find it )

    Is there a way to save photos to the phone hard drive as well upload to Google photos or is my solution is to get a different app from the stock Nexus 6p camera app?

    Many thanks

    You should have that option in the camera app settings....

    Perhaps you're not looking in the correct location?

    Settings -> Storage -> Explore -> DCIM -> Camera

    I'm sure if you start at the root folder using some other file manager you'll see the same DCIM folder.
