CM 10 stuck in bootloop
Hey, just started rooting and flashing custom ROMs for the first time and I think I've gotten pretty far but now I'm stuck.
CyanogenMod 10 keeps getting stuck in a bootloop (the start screen won't go anywhere). Is there any way to fix this and get CM10 without the hassle of restoring the factory image, rerooting and reinstalling ROM manager? Is this problem just caused by CM 10 being a nightly build or is there any chance I did something wrong? Does anyone else with CM 10 nightly builds having this problem? - 10-30-2012, 04:17 AM

Re: CM 10 stuck in bootloop
I downloaded cm10 as well, but did not have paranoidandroid installed on my nexus 7 tablet. after flashing the cm10 and rebooting, it gets stuck on a boot loop of the spinny wheels....... what did you do to get out? have you found a way to get back to stock? the only thing left I have on it is the gladOS kernel running along gladOS control... the tablet IS rooted and the bootloader unlocked. after searching through a lot of forums, it seems that you are the only other person with this problem....

Re: CM 10 stuck in bootloop
Boot to bootloader (power down, hold volume down and power until bootloader screen) plug into computer, volume scroll to recovery and hit power. Once there, on your computer adb push Paranoid or another ROM to your device:
adb push nameoffile.zip /sdcard/
Or if you made a backup before flashing (as you should have) just restore it when you get to recovery.
Worst case.. Follow my Factory Image Restore guide.

Re: CM 10 stuck in bootloop
Alright, thank you for putting up with me. I have good news and bad news. Good news: after flashing a ROM with errors on it (wouldn't finish installing from zip) I tried flashing cm10 again. Somewhere there must have been magic, because his time it loaded, much to my surprise. I got the settings back to where I want them (visual and sound) and then I noticed the he bad news. All my apps were gone, but they were still taking memory, so they are hidden somewhere. There is no Google store app, and in the play store site, it won't let me redownload, claiming they are already been installed. Then even worse, it won't download new things, like root explorers so I can go investigate. After a quick peek I realized I have the cm10 UNOFFICIAL grouper, and it was bound to do something crazy like this. Any recommendations to what I can do to get all my apps back?

Re: CM 10 stuck in bootloop
Most ROMs require you to flash Gapps (Google Apps) separately. This is a legal issue, they aren't allowed to be included in custom ROMs. You can see the latest gapps package, a link to download it, and a changelog, here:
When flashing a new ROM always wipe! In recovery Wipe data/factory reset, wipe the cache, the dalvik cache, and the system (in CWM Recovery this is under Mounts & Storage). Then flash the ROM, flash the gapps, and reboot.
*Also note that the gapps package does NOT include google apps which are available to download from the Play, for size and region-specific/legal reasons. So thing you are used to seeing there like Gmail, Maps, Google+, will have to be downloaded from Play again.... though later you can have these restored by TiBu (without data), which brings me to..
As for your previously installed apps.. they will need to be reinstalled as flashing required wiping. Going forward click the link in my signature to check out my TiBu guide.. when set up properly you can use the app to backup all of your apps with data, and restore data with the apps for many of them, and others without data (this is explained in more detail in the guide).
And before you wipe / flash / hack / or do anything.. be smart, be safe, make a nandroid backup. Go into your recovery and hit Backup. When it's done you ought to even copy the backup to your computer for safe keeping. Restoring a backup will revert your device to exactly how it was when you made the backup. They can be big files so you won't want to keep many on your device, usually just one or 2 will be fine.
