Default Unroot prior to 4.2 update?

An suggests that if you rooted your N7 and installed an alternate ROM, you should revert back to stock in order to be able to get the upcoming 4.2 update. That makes some sense, because typically updates are looking for a specific version of the stock ROM.

But what about users who have rooted but kept stock? Like my Droid Bionic, I suspect that my N7 will be able to take the update without issue. But will rooting survive the update to 4.2?

    Thoughts?

Freshly rooted stock N7 here. I've read of people losing root on the 4.1.2 update. I'm going to stay rooted and use . It looks like a viable, proactive solution.

If you have kept it stock but rooted you have no reason to unroot. You can use OTA Rootkeeper like xips suggested to restore root after the OTA, or you can re-root just as easily as you did before afterwards

+1 to this but i'll add that stock is defined as having both the stock rom and stock recovery.
If you used like the wugs toolkit and installed cwm when you rooted then you won't be able to install the OTA even though you may be able to download it because you have a stock rom. At least that's what I've always found

So I will need to re-root the device after the upgrade then, huh? Gotcha, thanks!
