Can't say I've seen it. But to answer your question about if it'll be fixed or not, no idea and I doubt anyone but someone from Google could answer that. My guess is if they believe it's a bug then they'll fix it but it could be as simple as they tweaked the auto brightness sensitivity in 4.2.1 and what you view as a bug is really an enhancement, could just depend on your perspective.

I do have the same issue... Firts i thought it was a ambient sensor, but it seems, the nexus does not have that!
