Over The Air update straight out of the box, maybe?

Kind of a brain fart with my post above. Totally forgot my charge had an update on release day. It would automatically do an OTA as soon as you turned it on.

Re: Slash gear confirms galaxy nexus on sale 27th best buy leak

This confirms nothing. The date on the catalogue has nothing to do with when the phone will launch; those are the dates the stores are required to keep the magazine available on the floor for customers. It could launch on the 27th, or it could launch on Christmas Eve, or any time in between.

In other words; this tells us nothing we didn't already know.

Yup Yup. This. ^^

The dates given on this add would still support a December 8th launch.

Gah! I wish this damn things would launch already.

Re: Slash gear confirms galaxy nexus on sale 27th best buy leak

I use to work for Best Buy (almost 6 years), if there is an ad for this device already, there should be a SKU generated already as well. All it would take is someone, a regular BBY employee, to check the SKU within their inventory system. I forgot what the system is called, but you basically can search by SKU or keyword. It would reveal a ship date/arrival date and amount incoming/on-hand.

All of BBY ads start on Sundays. Based upon the pictures in this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus/135504-verizon-will-call-nexus-prime.html The SKU appears to be: 3904141 It doesn't show up on Bestbuy.com but it may show up within the internal inventory system.

Nonetheless, I find it highly doubtful that this phone will launch at BBY as the "Nexus Prime." Best Buy appears to be misinformed.

Who else remembers all the "misinformation" that BB put out prior to the release of the Xoom. I popped over to the Xoom section and grabbed this.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/motorola-xoom/59970-1-199-99-best-buy-website.html

So I think anything pre-release from BB has to be put in perspective.

How old could it be if it has the Rezound listed?

I wrote this on another thread. Best Buy has made mistakes in the past. The name "Nexus Prime" doesn't make sense for Verizon or for Samsung. Plus, the phone has already been announced. They start putting these flyers together weeks ago. Looks like someone forgot to update the copy. End of story.

Re: Slash gear confirms galaxy nexus on sale 27th best buy leak

This thread should be merged with the Nexus Prime thread. This is just a story about the images leaked in this forum. It's difficult to trust a flyer that didn't even bother to get the name of the phone correct.

Re: Slash gear confirms galaxy nexus on sale 27th best buy leak

I hope everyone can read this and it doesn't get lost in the list.
Firstly, Best Buy's inventory system is screwed up. They do TONS of placeholders that show up as actual items. Case in point:
In Apri 2011, Splinter Cell HD Trilogy was supposed to come out for PS3. Even though no stores had it, and the publisher gave a vague release date, Best Buy ran with the date everyone else was spreading online. I checked on BestBuy.com and saw that they supposedly had it and it was supposedly released on said day.
When I got to the store, I didn't see it. I asked an employee to check in the back, and he claimed they "must've ran out." I asked the manager, and she confirmed that they received no such shipment. When I checked online, the publisher had decided to delay the game.

Long story short, don't believe 3rd party retailers over Verizon itself. If Verizon ain't yappin', then no concrete release date exists.

I think we should all remember how unsubstantiated rumors sent us into a fit of rage earlier...

AND COMPLETELY DISREGARD IT. NEXUS HUZZAH!!!!

:)

(In all seriousness people, I'm excited to see this but don't take it as true until you can actually buy the thing)

I remember. Everyone was going crazy because of the price. People kept saying it was just a placeholder. That's why I'm not buying into this. It's also the same ad posted earlier and on the main page and, in this forum.

Re: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/22/report-samsung-confirms-

I think i'm all confirmed out. Can't handle anymore confirmation.

Remember when it was confirmed it'd be out nov3rd, then the 17th-18th then the 21st? Man. That was fun. Here's hoping for early december at the very least. There's "confirmed" and there's confirmed confirmed. Most of us won't consider anything confirmed confirmed until verizon comes out and says it is

Just read the Droid Life article, why would this be coming from Samsung and not Verizon?

If that means it's a normally timed print of marketing material for a pending release, but with a mistake, I agree. If you mean it's marketing material that was printed a couple months ago and hasn't been updated, color me skeptical.

Getting close. I can feel it.

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.
You are now chatting with 'Lemonica'
Lemonica: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Brandon: I would like to order the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I would like to add a line.
Lemonica: I'd be happy to assist you.
Lemonica: Are you logged into my verizon?
Brandon: yes
Lemonica: Ok do you see the add a new device.
Brandon: yes
Lemonica: Ok click that tab, then go to shop, and then tablets
Brandon: It's not a tablet
Lemonica: We do not have the Nexus available at this time.
Brandon: When will it be available?
Lemonica: Although we are not provided with specific launch dates or pricing information for phones that have not yet been released, you are able to sign up for our Email Updates and they will let you know if anything comes up. Please click the Verizon Wireless Logo at the left side of the page and scroll down to the bottom right side of the page. Once that is done, click Sign up for Email Updates.
Brandon: I already did that. Typically those e-mails don't get to me until AFTER the phone is released.
Brandon: It is a tough economy and I'm saving every penny for this device. It would help to actually know when it's available.
Lemonica: I understand as a consumer that this must be frustrating. I do apologize that I am not able to offer what you are asking or do more that I am authorized to.
Brandon: Fair enough. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble. Do you know when the phone will be released?
Lemonica: As an online presales specialist I am only authorized with limited access to that information.
Brandon: I'm not asking you to tell me when it is to be released. I would like to know if you know when it will be released.
Lemonica: No I do not have that information available.
Brandon: So you do not know when it will be released?
Lemonica: Not at this moment.
Brandon: Jesus knows when you're lying.
Lemonica: That's true, but unfortunately I do not have that information.
Brandon: Well, hopefully you'll be able to sleep at night.
Lemonica: I understand as a consumer that this must be frustrating. I do apologize that I am not able to offer what you are asking or do more that I am authorized to. ?
Brandon: Thank you for your help. I know you tried. So did I.
Lemonica: Is there anything else I can assist you with today Mr.Brandon?
Brandon: No. Just don't be mad at me. I'm not as bad of a guy as you think.
Lemonica: You're fine

Could be a confirmation they wrapped the issue that was holding things up. Don't really care as long as I can scratch off "play w/ an LTE enabled Galaxy Nexus", from my bucket list, before I meet my maker. I'm good with that.

Jesus H. OK. This isn't that difficult.

That's from a Business Insider post that attributes ... no one. Nada. And carries even less information than an incorrect Best Buy flyer.

We're not doing a front-page story on it because it's not worth my time -- or yours. But for what it's worth, I did just speak with Samsung Corporate PR, which "has no official word."

And you're right. Samsung won't be the one to announce the date. Verizon will. (Maybe both simultaneously, but you know what I mean.)
