LTE issues on AT&T

Ok, I have heard all these "I just popped the sim card in and boom LTE" comments. What does that mean for the phone? Do you just pull it out of working phone and put it in and it worked?

I am on ATT. Called them when I got the phone, gave them IMEI and they registered it and the phone connected and worked but only on hspa+. I used SIM slot 1. I went through APN settings with tech and they're what he said they're "supposed" to be. But still no LTE.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong???? I found posts from OPO about having to change IMEI and hope you get a nice, knowledgeable person at ATT. I dont even know how to change IMEI? This phone is garbage to me w/o LTE. Can someone please help me??? :'( Thanks yall!

Ok - so took new sim out of OP3. Placed it into MXPE (old phone). It got HSPA+...Facepalmed for a minute. Frustrated, took it out and put it back in OP3. Turned it on and boom LTE. I cannot tell you what putting it in the old phone did. I'm no expert at this stuff.
