How can I send a SMS to multiple ppl w/o it being a GRP msg w reply to all as the default setting

That I'm not sure of. What messaging app do you use? I think that's a carrier limitation. Group texts are converted to MMS so they can be sent and I think most messaging apps on smartphones do reply all. On the other hand my brother in law has a dumb phone and it never replies all.

If I had a screen shot of my bb z10 I would show u. But if I add mor3 than one contact it would convert to a grp msg as MMS but Id have the option to have reply all so it would b a full fledged convo where everyone can talk to ea other like bbm grps or I can uncheck reply all and have it set out as one msg but its a one to one msg after my initial msg
