2.2.2 Email and MMS plus new Market

This is a patch to update 2.2.1 email and mms to the 2.2.2 versions and add the new Market to all Froyo roms.
MMS has better compatibility (I got messages form places I couldn't before) and inline pics as opposed to some where you used to have to download to see them. Supposedly email and MMS have bug fixes for incorrect addressing as well. The new Market adds new options, but the layout is radically different.

Once I sort the radio and have it in Harmonia, I will back port that as well.
Also, below is the Maps patch from Harmonia, this will work on other roms as well. Saving you 10+ megs of storage.

This is a generic version of the 1.3.1 patch for Harmonia. It doesn't contain the number update or branding.

Download:
Uninstall any Market updates before installing this.
To install, go into recovery and flash it, same as you flash a rom.

Maps patch:
I try and keep these somewhat current. By flashing this instead of updating, you save about 10megs of app storage on your phone. This works on all roms. This replaces the old version in your phone, instead of taking up space with an update.

what does the maps patch fix?

It fixes nothing.
It installs the latest maps version into the system directory, overwriting the old outdated one on the phone. This eliminates the 10meg update sitting in your apps folder, giving you more room. This practice started back with Aphrodite and made a big difference in app storage space.

Flashed both, works well. Also, when I flashed the goodies, I got 4 mms messages that I apparently shouldve received hours ago according to the ppl who sent them.

I'll make a slight change to post #1 to help. Not sure why this is so confusing.

Yeah didn't see that at first I just was happy to see new updates for our phone but thanks for pointing that out! I know the market update worked for me not sure if the MMS one went through so going to try a reflash see if it kicks in.

Correct, you won't see it, the only change is how it operates on some items, not even all of them.
It's mostly a bug fix.

Same with email, but it seemed to flash fine, it was the Market that was a hassle.

I dont like the new market. Its pretty ugly IMO. How can I go back to the previous one. Can you make a flashable zip to revert to the previous market. thanks in advance

Use a file manager (with root) and delete /system/apps/com.android.vending-1.apk
You may as well get used to it though.

You may have to flash an old gapps zip but like she said real soon this is going to be the default market. I am no fan of the new look but I kept it anyway seeing that this will be the norm.

Vending.apk is the old market.
This patch does not over-write it but just adds the newer one which becomes the default.
Removing the new one, it will default back.

Removing Vending.apk is okay, but do not remove Market updater.apk or it will break.

For some reason I'm getting a FC whenever I try to purchase an app from the new Market. I can download free apps and update existing apps w/o any issues, but trying to purchase a paid app will force close Market. Any insights into this?

I'm having the same problem. Fortunately I don't buy apps so it isn't an urgent problem, haha. But hopefully a solution can be found. Google shows other android have the similar problems. I didn't see a solution.

I tried reverting to the old market through titanium backup but it made things worst by force closing upon launching the old market. I restarted the phone and the new market returned but with the original problem.

On the positive side, the new email apk is noticeably great.

I can't delete the new market. I'm using file expert with su permissions. It says its a read only file.
