    Just looked at the OP...

Maybe a dumb question...given the current situation of my friend's OV...how can this be all done without the AAA key since there's no way I can get that in its current state?

Look at the links I gave grip66.
There is one to a post in the AAA code thread that might get the AAA code written back.

I've been playing with that method lately but have not had success. I did get it to write the profiles and HA key and an aaa code but not the one that I have originally and have not managed to restore data with it yet.

I tried. No working. I follow the instructions and it stays at 0%.

Methinks this entire thing does not work on Windows 8?

To much going at one time.
    Sorry.
What part did you do that's hung on 0%?

I picked the DLL and the bin from the zip. and then clicked start. Hung at 0% for 45 minutes.

Could it be the wrong USB driver?

Do you already have the Android SDK on the root of the C: drive, with the path to the adb.exe set in the environmental variables section of the computer?
Did you install the Java 6/jdk6 ( not the Java 7). Did you delete the old class path and put the class path to the Java 6's java.exe (found in the same environmental variables section)?
I hate to say this, but your going to have to explain in detail everything you have downloaded, and what you installed, and where, and if you have administration rights on your computer.
Also include links to everything downloaded.
You have missed something. Don't know what until I see exactly what you have done, and in detail.

I have successfully unbricked my old V using this tutorial. If I can do it, anybody can ( I'm a complete newb when it comes to trying anything new).

Noticed this guide uses lgnpst 1.2. Have you tried with v1.3?

Norton kills it. It thinks its bad malware.

Unless there's an official one bc I got 1.3 from XDA.

I think xda is where I got it and I did have Norton problems with it. I'm using Microsoft Security essentials now and it works, I'm using Windows 7 though.

I had to disable my malware and just use Security Essentials to get it to work.

sorry about thread necro but has anyone actually had luck with the "write" button to MEID in DFS? Mine always reads back the old MEID after attempted write. AAA stuff is always blank too and I always open with LGNPST first and "read", send SPC code, etc. Or is it required to write a SPC of all zero's? QPST can do a full read after opening LGNPST but that doesn't help me and CDMA workshop can only change pESN it seems.
