Swap # to rooted phone...your opinion

Got an OE several days ago and would love to hand my OV down to my son who is currently struggling with an Intercept. My 2.2.1 was previously rooted with GingerBreak but no ROM was loaded, mainly for Link2SD since I kept running out of space. After I delete my device accounts will we be able to just log into his VM website and do a phone swap as is or would it be best to flash the VM security update and re-root?

If you're on froyo you can activate while rooted. That's all I know. People root their phones and then have activated them so you don't have to unroot, just make sure it is on the stock rom.

Just whatever you do don't hit factory reset from the Privacy menu.

The best option is to restore a froyo nandroid with the activate.apk. Then restore/install the rom you want.

Yes you can do a swap, just go in and swap to the ov enter the sn and done! I know because I swapped to the ov from the rumor touch
