Anyone know what method Rom Manager uses to flash recoveries?

flash_image on devices with mtd, device specific methods on others (ex. dd to an internal emmc partition) I think that info can be found in the devices.js in koush's rommanagermanifest repo on github

it in not possible. when you shut down the phone, all apps and tasks are killed. and since the phone is not on and there is no power to it, there is no way to tell it to keep a certain app going.

Now I'm wondering how a car works...... You turn it off and you can turn it on with the click of a button, you can close and open doors, even the trunk.

The same way a car radio works. It has a 12volt keep alive connection.

Update will be showing up in a couple hours... added a check to make sure flash_image works with the phone

GPL issues with people not handing it out notwithstanding, it's always nice to be able to get source code.

Is there a GPL issue if you don't hand out app source code? I was under the impression that GPL only applied to kernels... I could be wrong though... I'm still a noob in many ways.

gpl applies to anything licensed under the gpl. the linux kernel is gpl. most of android is apahe2 licensed.

i din't see a license when i looked at your code so i was going to ask you about that.

i personally prefer a 2-clause bsd license and use it for all my original code (so.. i don't use it often)

Wait so what am I supposed to do to my code? Add something saying I own it and license people to use it to all the code?

Update says my device is not supported......add LS670 to supported device list please.....running ZVJ firmware on my OV...US670 as well.

So when you open the app it says you aren't supported? Or you can't download it?

Were you answering this question below or just making a suggestion about how to support more devices? Because i was asking about licensing.

Look in /system/bin and see if you see flash_image

That's the culprit. The next update will fix that and remove that check and place a warning instead, so you should be able to use the next update. Thanks for pointing that out sammyzzzzzzz.

Update will show up in a few hours that installs flash_image on phones that don't have it but warns users that don't have it that the app may not work. Latest flash_image by CM is 25 KB as opposed to 12 KB one we use in our roms... hmmm.

Anyway, update out.
