No 3G after custom rom install.
Specs:
Model: VM670 / Virgin Mobile Optimus V
Android Version: 2.2.1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.2 lge@android-build #4
I recently installed a custom rom that was basically a stock image it is under the file name stockopv.zip if I recall correctly. However after installing a custom recovery and the rom everything works great except for my 3G. I have data enabled and background synching enabled but nothing seems to be working to get my 3g back up and running. Even using the activation.apk from Virgin is no longer working.
I have even tried enable and disabling the radio so I'm not sure where to proceed from here. Hopefully someone can offer some assistance?
Thanks. - 05-07-2011, 02:34 AM #2

Use your nandroid backup, and then try the activate app.

I think I found the root cause of my issue during my learning curve with this phone. It appears that I flashed it with the wrong software as my girlfriends phone says something like VM670v4 I believe but mine says LS670ZV9. Not sure if this would have an adverse effect on the 3G but that's the only abnormality I've seen at this point. I'll update again after a few more trials.

Hmmm yesterday was a whirlwind of trial and errors but at this point I'm not sure what I did to get sprint software on a Virgin mobile phone. Leslie I considered that until I realized I made that ever so smart move and did an upgrade without a nand backup and realized it way after the fact. However everything on the phone is up and running fine just my 3G is currently not working. Would it be possible to make a nand backup of my girlfriends phone and restore on mine or would that just create a new set of issues?

Shoot didn't see the whole cab file thing. Can you still get to the custom recovery? Don't muck around with the emergency methods unless you absolutely need to.

You made a Nandroid backup when you first rooted, right? RIGHT?!
That will usually reverse most problems like this.

Well short of this point I have returned the entire phone back to full stock other than the incorrect SW still installed on it. I even tried pushing the VM cab file with the KP500 program but that just errors out some input url popup box and stops so at this point I think I have tried every option available. I do appreciate everyones help and not being totally chastised for my negligence. I'll just keep this phone for testing and buy another one in the next few paychecks.
