Why won't my brand new Orange Hi 4G send texts?

Brand new Orange Hi 4G Won't Send Texts

I just moved to France and yesterday I bought a very basic French smartphone (the Orange Hi 4G) and a prepaid monthly data/messaging plan rather than a contract. Ever since I brought it home last night, I haven't been able to send any text messages, but data, wifi and apps work fine. I've also been able to receive texts from apps like Viber that send you a verification code.

I tried taking the SIM card out, doing a factory reset, rebooting it, etc. but nothing works. Is there anything else I can do, or is it likely a problem with the phone itself?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you been able to make or receive calls as well? If not, then there's something wrong with the cell signal (which is separate from the 4G mobile data signal). You might need a replacement SIM.
