Xperia Z1, unfortunately memory has stopped

My xperia z1's storage capacity has almost been completely filled, so I have attempted to use the "transfer data to SD card" feature. This always worked in the past, but recently it says "unfortunately memory has stopped" a few seconds after I attempt to transfer the data. I have recently upgraded to Android 4.3, and it was around then I noticed the problem, but I can't be certain when exactly it was I started having the issue. Any help would be much appreciated as deleting random apps is just not cutting it anymore.
