Sounds like you got it from a store outside of the USA that makes copys and look alikes (but not always) of American products or popular brands like Apple. Generally they're just made with generic or cheaply built parts. This is only to my understanding.

Very similar to Iview CyPad 760TPC 7" Android Tablet. I bought one for my son and it works very nice.



But Iview is a US based company and Newegg.com is a trusted vendor.
