Virgin Mobile
Hey A/C.
A friend of mine is looking to get a couple of phones for his daughters on Virgin Mobile. He's asking around if people have experience, and I thought that I would turn to this trusty group for feedback.
Please drop a comment if you have, or had, experience with Virgin Mobile.
Big thanks!

I used to have Virgin Mobile. It has cheap plans, phones are okay, but the 3G network likes to go out and quit working A LOT! Other than that, I had no problems.
Oh and you may tell them to watch out for the Optimus V. Its a great phone but i had to get mine replaced 3 times because it kept shutting off a freezing up. A friend of mine had the same problem with his, he replaced his twice.

Re: Virgin Mobile
I have had Virgin Mobile for the better part of a year after getting out of my AT&T contract with an iPhone 3GS. At the time in my area, AT&T did not have 3G coverage so the iPhone was largely disappointing. I gave it to my 7-year old daughter to replace a ruined iPod Touch. Anyway, I switched to a VM android phone for $25/mo (saving about $50/mo) with 300 minutes plus unlimited text and data. I was trepidatious at first, but found out VM coverage in my area equaled or exceeded AT&T and had decent 3G coverage as well. I have been very pleased overall. Sure, their coverage isn't as broad as Verizon and their data speeds aren't 4G or even very fast 3G, but it is not bad at all and the savings is so great I feel like it has been worth the trade-offs. I highly recommend it for a family on a budget, with the following proviso: talk to people in your area who have VM to make sure they have good coverage. VM uses Sprint's towers, without roaming, if that helps.

Re: Virgin Mobile
I had Virgin Mobile for awhile before going with T-Mobile and they are stalkers! Talk about not wanting to lose business, I have repeatedly told them I was going with a different phone company and they still keep sending me emails and snail mail to my house! Also they have ALL third party downloads blocked on there phones only allowing you to download from their store. No I will never be going back with Virgin Mobile. I had a very nice phone that was crippled by their restrictions.

I'm not excactly sure what phone and plan you had but I have never heard of any of the things you are talking about. I have been using them since March and I haven't received one email, text, or mail from them and there are not any restrictions on 3rd party apps either.

Re: Virgin Mobile
I would recommend the HTC Wildfire S, it's an all around great phone and I haven't found any problems with it so far, which is good because most VM phones usually have many bugs and glitches.
