I am planning on buying the nexus 4 and I like the T-Mobile monthly 4g 30 dollar plan but I have heard the coverage is horrible compared to straight talks at&t network
Just wondering if the coverage is all that bad and some other advice on which plan to choose.

Depends where you go. In the major cities I've been to it's been great...but traveling outside the city for me it often goes to Edge.

No! You can ONLY be on the towers of the sim card that you buy as far as I know it. So if you go att then you only get att towers.

Straight Talk uses ATT towers. So depending on which giant you deem worthy to hold your account is personable. What I believe to be the best service between the two is T-mobile because they are working with Metro PCS towers here in the coming months. There is another service out there too called Simple Mobile it seems like decent service but I believe it runs on ATT service as well.

For GSM plans, Straight Talk is actually an MVNO for both Sprint and T-Mobile. The SIM card you choose at signup dictates which network you'll use (ATT or T-Mo).

And Simple Mobile is strictly a T-Mo MVNO, not ATT.

That doesn't make any sense what u said. Sprint is CDMA, not GSM.

He meant AT&T, as the second sentence clearly indicated.

So when you say tmobile do you mean tmobile directly or tmobile through straight talk?

I've been very happy with Solavei (T-Mobile MVNO). If you're in a good Tmo area... $49 unlimited talk /text /data unthrottled until 4GB. Also, they are doing the affiliate sign up thing so you can effectively lower that rate if you are interested in such things.

It's worth noting that the only way to get AT&T service through Straight Talk is to buy a used SIM from someone at inflated prices, as ST doesn't offer AT&T SIMs anymore, although they still honor the old ones (at this point). I'm currentlu habing massive issues with ST through their SIM program.

The issue I habe with MVNO versus the actual network is thay you have the lowest bandwidth priority and don't get access to ALL of their towers, only the ones the MVNO pays for

I have Straight Talk. I hate them. I hate their customer service, and even when beginning a new month, my data speeds are still throttled. I legitimately hate them. I picked ST because of their coverage (Iowa, specifically), but once I get back to Chicago I'll take up with T-Mobile or Solavei. In the meantime, I ditched ST for i-wireless... Never been happier.

By the way, I hate Straight Talk.

    So much misinformation here.
    Here is the scoop:
Straight Talk uses all four major US carriers. They use Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T.
You can buy a SIM card for either AT&T or T-Mobile through them. Some are available only in some zip codes though.
For CDMA carriers Verizon and Sprint you can buy a "Straight Talk Bring Your Own Phone CDMA Activation Kit Plus Service Plan"
Straight Talk Bring Your Own Phone CDMA Activation Kit Plus Service Plan: Cell Phones : Walmart.com

Also, any phones you get from Straight Talk that have a G in the model name will contain a GSM SIM card.
Any phones with the C in the model name will be CDMA phones that you could transfer the ESN from to your own CDMA phone.
Note: This isn't really needed nowadays though as Straight Talk provides the CDMA transition kit linked above.
Let me know if you have any other question or need further clarification.
