i have been looking around, no luck so far, my guess is give it another few weeks its a new model, there will be a root for it im guessing

pisses me off, if i had known that ZTE was 1 of the cellphone companys thats nicknamed "Fort Knox" locking their phones down i would not have got it :

root would mean that maybe someone would step up and make a custom rom, but even if that didnt happen id just like to be able freeze/uninstall apps i dont want

Just run KingRoot over and over and over again. I had to do it probably about 20 times.
Run the program, if it fails, reboot the phone...
If you get an error message that your phone cannot be rooted and you need to press a "Submit" button...Just back out of KingRoot and then clear all the data in the AppManager.

It WILL work eventually, it just takes time.

After this just flash TWRP and make a backup.
The display is going to go REALLY wonky after you install TWRP but trust me, just let it sit there for a while, and then you'll get into the recovery console. You will most likely need to press the Power button in about 5 minutes in order to get into the Console, but it DOES work.
