rezound or nexus on big red...which way do i go...please reply
my BIG question is I'm ready to either drop $650. plus tax or $299. and resign a 2 year contract (after not having a contract for over 1 year..I hate contracts) to get the next great smart phone. The problem is that's a lot of bread to spend and I'm not happy over the Nexus camera reviews or the lack of external mem, but love that its a nexus device. OR There is the Rezound which in every way seams superior to the Nexus except its not a nexus device. The third option is to wait for the fabled quad-core phones to come out hopefully by the end of first quarter or in second quarter next year. Its a lot of money and am not asking you to tell me what to do but to tell me if there is something I'm not accounting for in my breakdown. *please tell me your secret spies have reported a nexus quad-core is coming out in Feb so my decision will be an easy one*

I'd wait. I returned my Nexus not because of anything with the hardware but because the 4G network isn't ready.
Here (Harrisburg, PA) I "should" have a solid 4G signal outside, inside, everywhere, but rarely did. That and the weekly outages just frustrated me to no end.
If you can wait a while and don't have to upgrade I'd wait for the network to mature and hopefully by then there will be second and third generation 4G devices to take advantage of it. - 12-29-2011, 01:56 PM #3
Rezound is superior to the Nexus? ROFL
Rezound has a few things that make it a poor choice to me. First it doesn't have ICS. Second it has sense UI, and after it receives ICS will more than likely be unrecognizable because of sense. Finally, it is made by HTC.

Here we have 4g around but not in our city..they claim March will be our month...I've thought the snapdragon processors are awesome and sense ui will get snatched out by cm9... I like the lack of buttons but am not sure if I can past no external memory ...

If I were on Verizon or switching to verizon I would go with the Galaxy Nexus. HTC makes nice devices, but one thing about them is a locked bootloader, sure you can unlock the boot loader on them now, however, voiding warranty to have it unlocked is something, I am not a fan of. Plus with the Galaxy Nexus, you are getting the latest version of Android before every other phone usually gets their updates. Sure you can always wait but if you are wanting a new phone now, then my first choice would be the GN, my second choice would be the razr.

If you are wanting to avoid a contract wait.
I love my HTC DINC but also love the Nexus.
You can't go wrong with either the rezound or Nexus.
I like HTC devices, but the Nexus doesn't seem as big as I thought it would be.
I went with it because it was different from my DINC.
The Rezound to me, is an upgraded Dinc. I actually thing the rezound replaces the Dinc lineup.
You get a nice screen and bigger phone then the Dinc line, but all phones are going that way.
I thought of it as this:
I have a DINC. Going to a rezound would be like going from a iphone 4g to an iphone 4gs.
The nexus was like going from an original Droid to the 4s.
Hope that confuses you lol.
Beats is a gimmick. I love poweramp. Sense was great in learning android but since you know android, I think you will like ICS.
Removable storage? I thought I would miss it but I don't. At all. That was the only reason I was hesitant about the Nexus. - 12-30-2011, 06:00 AM #8

Re: rezound or nexus on big red...which way do i go...please repl
awesome.....i went to big red last night to look them over again ...thought i made my mind up on the rezound but now after reading these last three posts im back to neutral ...i knew dev support would be great for gnex but * is it really that lacking for the rezound?* Im not so concerned about boot loader because there is an unlock on the rezound, but if i have a warranty issue cant i just go back to stock and re lock the boot loader..? i have never had to worry about that before because all my android devices were bought 2nd hand so they had no warranty. Back to unsure...must buy one today...need weekend to play with it....has any put the otterbox on their gnex?..

Re: rezound or nexus on big red...which way do i go...please repl
I went to VZ store 2 days ago. They had the same issue with the back of the GN that I've heard over and over. It pulls off easily.
And personally ICS is not the deciding factor to me, the deciding factor is which, IMO, is the better quality. Holding both, the HTC Rezound wins. Screen, camera, swapping external SD cards. VZ has way too much bloatware on the Rezound, but that will soon be gone with the unlocked bootloader. S-Off will follow shortly.
And HTC will be making ICS available if I want it later. But I don't mind sense and can adjust it as needed now. - 12-30-2011, 01:37 PM

........HTC REZOUND........after much debate i decide the only thing going for the gnex was dev support and ics, but after checking xda found a bunch of great devs have already committed to doing rezound builds so, and ics or cm9 wont be long for it....gnex will get google direct updates but still had to go with the rez.......also had a discusion on why i did not get the headphones that were on display with the phone (the big full size ones) when the box was opened there was ear buds....there advertising display clearly says it comes with beats headphones, not ear buds.....but they were not persuaded...

Seriously gang, who cares what phone another person chooses?
I mean if I choose the Nexus and someone doesn't like it, why bash me?
What about an Incredible?
Or if someone went out today and bought a Droid 2 (ok nevermind)
Point is, a person makes a choice for what device they want for them.
Spider, enjoy your device. If you don't feel comfortable with another one a person shouldn't be compelled to deal with it for two years because certain people say so. - 12-31-2011, 10:01 AM

Re: rezound or nexus on big red...which way do i go...please repl
I stand by your decision, i think what it comes down to is....
stock GNex vs stock Rzound = GNex
Rooted GNex Vs Rooted Rzound = Rzound
who needs a warranty just keep it stock for the first 30 days, almost always if you have an issue u know well before the in store warranty is done, anything beyond that just buy insurance and drop it in a bucket of water.. - 01-22-2012, 10:47 PM #22

Can't go wrong with either. Personally, I'd have gone with the Galaxy Nexus.

I had the Rezound for a good month before it was ruined. I made the mistake of not having insurance. I have to say it was one of the best devices that I had ever owned. Congratulations.
