Weekly-Photo-Contest-Metal.jpg

Sprinkler Standpipe. Taken with the Motorola Droid Ultra.

It's Wednesday, and that means we're gearing up for another week-long photo contest focused on a prompt of our choosing. We like to keep things broad, usually, and we're going to stick with that theme by using the prompt "metal" this week. That could certainly be represented in a variety of ways, so we're ready to see your creativity come out with this one. As always, there will be a prize involved.

This week we're picking a single winner, and their photo entry will win them an HP Chromebook 11 (customized with an Android Central sticker on the lid, of course)!

Entering is easy. Just drop your entry in a post below. Tell us what Android you used to get the picture, and any back story you want to add to it. We'll pick a winner Tuesday (January 28) night at 11:59 PM ET, and announce them on the blog with next Wednesday's contest.

  • Pictures must be taken with an Android device
  • Pictures must be uploaded to the contest thread. I'm not running all over the Internet to track them down.
  • You have to tell us what device you used to take the picture, and any special software you might have used. Editing your pictures is fine ? this is art.
  • You must have used a valid email address to register here at AC, so I know how to contact the winner.
  • Only one entry per week per person.

Good luck, everyone!

Posting from my HP11 right now... this is totally worth it, good luck everyone!

There really isn't anything more metal than a WW2 bomber. Took this with my old Galaxy S2 at the Lyon Air Museum in Irvine CA. Edited it with the Google+ photo editing tools.

Taken with my Galaxy Nexus and edited with an app called Photo Editor.
Photo is of the Sydney Harbor Bridge (made of steel) and the Sydney Opera House's silhouette to the left. Taken from the Manly Ferry.

Silver Dollars.jpg
Taken with my Nexus 5 (Android 4.4.2) stock camera using HDR+.
A close-up of some of the older silver dollars I've got lying around.

Well, I didn't think this photo would come in handy! It was taken on my Droid DNA (before I got the Nexus 5). The photo is of a metal "Clean After Your Dog" sign being "eaten" by a tree growing around it. I took it because it just shows how nature, given time, can overcome everything. That, and I thought the subject was pretty cool, a fusion between man and nature. It was edited for contrast and cropped in PicSay Pro. Thanks AC and Mobile Nations!

My horn, made of nickel silver. My feet and lower legs can be seen reflected in the instrument's bell; check out the orange laces and orange velcro straps on my sneakers. Moto X, with a little Google Auto-Enhance, no other editing.

Dad's Plaque.jpg

This was taken with my Nexus 5 in HDR+ mode.
It is a closeup of brass plaque that was on a lodging suite at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico. The suite was named in honor of my father, a Chief Master Sergeant in the USAF.
The base closed so they gave him the plaque. My mother gave it to me when he passed away. It is hanging in my office at home.

Taken with Nexus 5 then transferred to a Nexus 7 via Bluetooth (So I can see more details), finally I edited using Snapseed.

I love photography and love my Nexus devices. With a little artistic view, editing software, and time you can do anything!
Thank you for considering me and you have no idea how much I'd love a Chromebook.
